Approximately 13% or 2.5 million children in Uganda have some form of disability. These children are often neglected, abused and outcast and so are some of the most marginalised and vulnerable in the world.
They are stigmatised by Ugandan society fuelled by a cultural belief that they are ‘cursed’ and this can result in the most appalling treatment by their communities.
Here at Nabasa Children’s Therapy Centre we aim to secure the future of our vital service so that we can continue to help and nurture these children.
We provide a loving and supportive environment where they can grow, develop, make friends and achieve their potential. We strive to source public donations via ongoing fundraising efforts.
We are a UK/Uganda collaboration where fundraising is conducted in the UK and these funds are then sent to Uganda for the work of the centre.
We are heavily reliant on donations in order to remain open and operational.
We hope one day to be able to afford to build our own premises as the rent we currently pay on the building we use is our biggest expenditure - if we achieve this goal we can then increase our capacity and expand our services.
Your donation is vital to the work we do. Poverty is widespread in Uganda and so we struggle to afford the costs associated with running the centre including: Medicine, food, rent costs, utilities/bills and staff wages
Your donation will help with the day to day running of our work as well as contributing towards securing our future. Funds received make a huge difference to the lives of these children – some of the most vulnerable in the world - and without donations like yours, many of these children would face a life of being neglected, abused or abandoned.
